For Dogs Only:

Is there a particular location where you’d like to do the shoot? Or a particular landscape aesthetic you prefer (eg. forest, water, urban, studio, etc.). It’s ok if you don’t, I can offer suggestions based on your dog’s interests.

What is your dog’s energy level? On a scale from 1= couch potato to 5 = tasmanian devil (the cartoon variety):

What are your dog’s favourite activities? (eg. playing in water? chasing sticks/balls/frisbees? lying around looking cute? sniffing the world at a leisurely pace?)

How well is your dog trained? How is their recall? Is your dog ok to be off leash (it’s ok if they’re not)? Does your dog respond to basic commands like “sit” “stay” “lie down” (reliably? sometimes? never?)? Does your dog know any tricks that you would like photographed (static tricks that they can hold work better than dynamic ones) ?

Is your dog nervous in certain situations (eg. new people, loud noises)? Is there anything in particular that might make them uncomfortable? Do they become reactive in certain situations (eg. if a strange dog walks by)?

Does your dog have any mobility issues?Any allergies? (If so, please provide your own treats for the session).

Is your dog food motivated? Is there a particular toy or sound that will get their attention? Or a favourite human they will keep their eyes glued to?

For Cats Only:

Is your cat shy or outgoing around new people?

If your cat is shy around strangers, do they hide until the person is gone, or eventually get curious and come out to check them out? Will they come out of their shell for treats or toys? I'm happy to extend the time of the session if your cat needs a little extra time in the beginning to get comfortable.

Is your cat playful and toy-motivated? If so, would you like to include action shots (this usually involves photographing your cats antics as they jump for a feather, wand toy or laser and can be quite fun!) in your session?

Note: most cat sessions will be studio sessions unless your space meets certain criteria (a sufficiently large garden for outdoor cats or a very well lit and spacious indoor environment) or your cat is already trained as an "adventure cat".
